- 1 lb ziti pasta
- 1 lb ground sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta and tomato sauce. Mix well.
- Pour half of the pasta mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat with the remaining pasta and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Add fresh basil or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for an extra burst of flavor.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey or chicken sausage.
