Description

This indulgent Banana Foster French Toast takes your breakfast to the next level with sweet, caramelized bananas, dark rum, and a touch of cinnamon, all atop golden, crispy French toast. A decadent twist on a classic, perfect for a special brunch or a weekend treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Butter, for cooking

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
  • Add the bananas, rum, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the bananas are soft and the mixture thickens slightly.
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, then place in the skillet with the banana mixture.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  • Serve the French toast with the banana mixture on top.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the rum with a splash of vanilla extract or banana extract.
  • You can use any bread of your choice, but thick slices like brioche or challah work best for French toast.
