Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 pickles, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and pork with the chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, white vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  • Toast the hamburger buns lightly in a toaster or on a skillet.
  • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with a slice of American cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes. Place the top bun on each and serve immediately.
