  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  • In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Dip the shrimp into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F/175°C).
  • Fry the shrimp in batches, turning once, until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove the shrimp from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce.
