Description

This caramel chicken is a sweet and savory dish that’s bursting with flavor! The rich caramelized sauce made with brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger coats the chicken thighs perfectly, creating a mouthwatering glaze. Easy to make and guaranteed to be a hit at the dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, water, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add chicken thighs to the pan and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken and bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and caramelizes.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs if you prefer less fat or want to speed up cooking time.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad.
