Description

Cheesy Cauliflower Steaks are a delicious, low-carb vegetarian dish featuring thick slices of cauliflower seasoned with a flavorful blend of spices, drizzled with olive oil, and topped with a crunchy, cheesy panko topping. Roasted to perfection, these steaks make a satisfying main or side that’s perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cauliflower:

  • 1 head cauliflower

Cauliflower Seasoning:

  • ⅓ cup olive oil

  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika

  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon coarsely ground salt

Crunchy Topping:

  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if needed)

  • ½ tablespoon dried parsley

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 ounces cheddar cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  • Remove leaves and trim the stem of the cauliflower, keeping the core intact. Slice cauliflower into ¾-inch thick steaks (about 2–3 per head depending on size).

  • In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to make the seasoning.

  • Brush both sides of each cauliflower steak generously with the seasoning mixture.

  • Arrange steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • In another bowl, combine panko, dried parsley, dried oregano, olive oil, and grated cheddar cheese to make the crunchy topping.

  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over each cauliflower steak.

  • Roast in the oven for 25–30 minutes, until the cauliflower is tender and the topping is golden and crispy.

  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Be careful when slicing cauliflower steaks to keep them intact.

  • Use gluten-free panko for a gluten-free version.

  • Cheddar cheese adds a rich flavor; substitute with vegan cheese for a dairy-free option.
