- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup crumbled bacon (about 4 strips)
- 4–6 fresh jalapenos, seeded and finely chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped jalapenos, and green onions. Mix until well blended.
- Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, form the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Roll each cheese ball in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the cheese balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra heat, leave some seeds in the jalapenos. These popper balls are perfect for parties or as a fun appetizer!
