Description
Cheesy Taco Sticks are the perfect fusion of savory taco flavors and gooey melted cheese, wrapped in warm, soft pizza dough. This easy, kid-friendly recipe is ideal for dinner or as a fun appetizer, perfect for dipping in your favorite salsa or sour cream.
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 packet taco seasoning mix, or homemade taco seasoning
-
1 tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
-
5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved
-
4 tbsp butter, melted
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp dried parsley
Instructions
-
Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning mix (and water, if required according to the seasoning packet instructions). Set aside to cool slightly.
-
Prepare the dough: Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Stretch it into a rectangle and cut it into 5 equal pieces (about the size of the cheese sticks).
-
Assemble the taco sticks: Place a halved cheese stick in the center of each piece of dough. Spoon a generous amount of the taco meat mixture over the cheese, then fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal the sticks.
-
Brush with butter: Place the filled sticks onto a greased baking sheet. Brush each taco stick with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder and dried parsley.
-
Bake: Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
-
Serve: Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces, like salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
Notes
-
For extra spice, add some chopped jalapeños to the taco meat mixture.
-
You can use different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for variety.
