Description

Cheesy Texas Toast is the ultimate comfort side dish! Made with thick, buttery slices of bread topped with garlic-infused butter and melted cheeses, it’s a quick and flavorful addition to any meal. Perfect alongside pasta, soups, or as a stand-alone snack, this easy recipe will have everyone asking for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of Texas toast or thick-sliced bread
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, dried parsley, oregano, and salt.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses generously on top of the buttered side.
  • Arrange the slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • For a golden finish, broil the toast for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For added spice, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • You can freeze uncooked prepared slices for up to a month and bake directly from frozen.
