Description

These Cherry Pie Bars are the perfect combination of sweet and tart, featuring a buttery, soft base topped with luscious cherry pie filling and a sprinkle of cake-like topping. Ideal for any occasion, they’re easy to make and sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  • Combine the flour and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.
  • Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter.
  • Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the filling.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes in the preheated oven, or until top is set.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • You can use other fruit pie fillings like blueberry, peach, or apple as a variation.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
