Chicken Makhani, also known as Butter Chicken, is a rich and creamy Indian dish made with boneless chicken marinated in a fragrant blend of spices and yogurt. - 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, coriander, cardamom, cloves, and paprika. Mix well.
- Add chicken to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce and cream. Bring to a simmer.
- Add marinated chicken and any remaining marinade to the skillet. Cook until chicken is no longer pink.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped cilantro.
Notes
- For extra heat, you can add more chili powder or a chopped fresh chili to the marinade.
- Serve with naan bread or basmati rice to complete the dish.
- You can use bone-in chicken for a richer flavor but make sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
