It’s easy to make, with minimal prep, making it an ideal dessert for potlucks, family gatherings, or a cozy night at home. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Layer Cherry Filling:
Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Add Cake Mix:
Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry filling. Do not stir.

Drizzle with Butter:
Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible.

Optional Toppings:
If using, sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans and chocolate chips over the top.

Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly.

Cool and Serve:
Allow the dump cake to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
