  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar, for rolling
  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1½ cups sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in remaining sugar.
  • Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set.
  • Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
  • Remove the cookies to wire racks to cool.

Notes

  • You can also try using different types of chocolate kisses for variety, such as caramel or peanut butter.
  • Make sure not to overbake the cookies, as they should remain soft and chewy.
