Description

Delight in this festive twist on traditional baklava, filled with a rich blend of walnuts and pistachios, spiced with cinnamon, and drizzled with a sweet honey syrup. A perfect holiday treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package phyllo dough, thawed
  • 2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, pistachios, and cinnamon.
  • Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo, then add 2 more phyllo sheets brushed with butter. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.
  • Cut into diamond shapes and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • In a saucepan, heat honey, sugar, water, and vanilla extract until the sugar dissolves. Pour the warm syrup over the baked baklava and let it soak before serving.

Notes

Allow the baklava to cool before serving for the best flavor. It can be stored in an airtight container for several days.
