Description

These festive Christmas Cookie Bars are a perfect treat for the holiday season. Loaded with chocolate chips and optional nuts, they’re a chewy and delicious dessert that’s easy to make and share with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually mix into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • You can use white chocolate chips or butterscotch chips for a different flavor variation.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, underbake slightly and let the bars cool in the pan.
  • These bars store well in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
