Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (18.25 oz) package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Sprinkles, for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  • Mix in the cake mix until well blended.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  • Decorate with sprinkles if desired.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Do not overbake!
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is not over-mixed to maintain that soft and gooey texture.
  • The cookies will continue to cook on the baking sheet after you remove them from the oven, so it’s important to not overbake them.
