Description

This Cream Cheese Grilled Cheese takes the classic sandwich to a creamy, savory new level. With layers of smooth cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and a hint of Parmesan, it’s perfectly crispy on the outside and decadently melty inside—ideal for a comforting lunch or quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 small but thick slices of bread (sourdough or any firm bread works well)

  • 8 square slices of cheddar cheese

  • 5 oz (150g) cream cheese

  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, see notes)

  • Butter, as needed for grilling

Instructions

  • Spread cream cheese evenly over one side of each bread slice.

  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of the cream cheese layer.

  • Optional: Spread mayonnaise over the outside of each bread slice for extra crispiness.

  • Layer cheddar slices over 4 of the bread slices (cream cheese side up), then top with the remaining bread slices (cream cheese side down) to form sandwiches.

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter.

  • Grill sandwiches for about 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted, adding more butter as needed.

  • Remove from heat, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Mayonnaise on the outside helps achieve a crispier crust but can be omitted for a lighter sandwich.

  • Use your favorite bread type but avoid very soft bread for best structure.

  • Add extras like tomato slices or fresh herbs if desired.
