Description
This Cream Cheese Grilled Cheese takes the classic sandwich to a creamy, savory new level. With layers of smooth cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and a hint of Parmesan, it’s perfectly crispy on the outside and decadently melty inside—ideal for a comforting lunch or quick dinner.
Ingredients
-
8 small but thick slices of bread (sourdough or any firm bread works well)
-
8 square slices of cheddar cheese
-
5 oz (150g) cream cheese
-
1 tbsp Parmesan cheese
-
1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, see notes)
-
Butter, as needed for grilling
Instructions
-
Spread cream cheese evenly over one side of each bread slice.
-
Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of the cream cheese layer.
-
Optional: Spread mayonnaise over the outside of each bread slice for extra crispiness.
-
Layer cheddar slices over 4 of the bread slices (cream cheese side up), then top with the remaining bread slices (cream cheese side down) to form sandwiches.
-
Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter.
-
Grill sandwiches for about 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted, adding more butter as needed.
- Remove from heat, slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
-
Mayonnaise on the outside helps achieve a crispier crust but can be omitted for a lighter sandwich.
-
Use your favorite bread type but avoid very soft bread for best structure.
- Add extras like tomato slices or fresh herbs if desired.
