Description

These crispy, golden wontons are filled with sweet strawberry jam and topped with fresh whipped cream and strawberries. A delightful, easy-to-make dessert with a perfect balance of crispy, sweet, and creamy textures.

  • 1 cup strawberry jam or preserves (or raspberry or apricot for a twist)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for a decorative garnish)
  • Neutral oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
  • Optional: Use gluten-free wonton wrappers for a gluten-sensitive variation

Instructions

  • Heat a few inches of neutral oil in a large skillet or deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Place a spoonful of strawberry jam (or your chosen preserve) in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Lightly wet the edges of the wonton wrapper with water and fold it into a triangle, pressing the edges to seal tightly.
  • Carefully lower the wontons into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the wontons from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Once slightly cooled, dust the wontons with powdered sugar if desired for a decorative touch.
  • Top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with fresh strawberries.
