Ingredients
For the Steak Bites:
-
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into cubes
-
2 tablespoons garlic, minced
-
4 tablespoons butter
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Smashed Potatoes:
-
1 pound baby potatoes
-
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
For the Steak Bites:
-
Prepare the Steak:
-
Season the steak cubes with salt and pepper.
-
-
Cook the Steak:
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter.
-
Once the butter has melted and is hot, add the steak cubes in a single layer. Cook the steak for about 2-3 minutes per side, until it is browned on all sides and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
-
-
Add Garlic and Butter:
-
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning the garlic.
-
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt, stirring to coat the steak bites in the flavorful garlic butter.
-
-
Serve:
-
Transfer the steak bites to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley. Set aside while you prepare the potatoes.
-
For the Smashed Potatoes:
-
Boil the Potatoes:
-
Place the baby potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt.
-
Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender when pierced with a fork.
-
-
Smash the Potatoes:
-
Drain the potatoes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Use a potato masher or the bottom of a glass to gently smash each potato until it’s flattened but still in one piece.
-
-
Season and Add Cheese:
-
Drizzle the olive oil over the smashed potatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the potatoes.
-
-
Bake:
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Bake the smashed potatoes in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
-
Serve:
-
Garnish the smashed potatoes with chopped fresh chives before serving.
-
Notes
-
You can substitute the sirloin steak with other cuts like ribeye or flank steak if you prefer.
-
For extra creaminess, you can mash the potatoes with a bit of sour cream or heavy cream before baking.
- If you’re looking for a bit of heat, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on the steak bites for an added kick.
