- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In a separate bowl, mix together molasses, hot water, vegetable oil, brown sugar, and egg.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
