Description

Juicy and flavorful, these Grilled BBQ Boneless Chicken Thighs are marinated with a blend of spices and finished with a smoky homemade Southern BBQ sauce. Perfect for a backyard cookout or quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon chili powder

  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil

  • 1 cup homemade Southern BBQ sauce

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder.

  • Rub the spice mixture evenly over the chicken thighs. Drizzle with avocado oil and toss to coat well.

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  • Grill chicken thighs for 6–8 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

  • During the last few minutes of grilling, brush chicken with homemade Southern BBQ sauce on both sides, allowing it to caramelize slightly.

  • Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfectly cooked chicken.

  • For best flavor, marinate chicken with spices and oil for at least 30 minutes before grilling.

  • Homemade Southern BBQ sauce can be substituted with your favorite store-bought sauce.
