Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (85% lean works well)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 medium head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2–3 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro, or lime wedges
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and beef broth (or water), and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
- Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
- Remove from heat and serve with your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro, or a squeeze of lime.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, you can add diced jalapeños or a pinch of chili flakes.
- You can substitute the beef broth with water or chicken broth if preferred.
- This recipe can easily be doubled or halved depending on your serving needs.
