Description

This Ground Beef Taco Cabbage Skillet is a quick, flavorful, and low-carb dinner option. Loaded with seasoned ground beef, crunchy cabbage, and savory toppings, it’s a satisfying meal the whole family will enjoy. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prepping!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean works well)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 medium head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 23 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro, or lime wedges

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and beef broth (or water), and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
  • Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
  • Remove from heat and serve with your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro, or a squeeze of lime.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, you can add diced jalapeños or a pinch of chili flakes.
  • You can substitute the beef broth with water or chicken broth if preferred.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or halved depending on your serving needs.
