Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (3 to 4 pound) beef tenderloin roast
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the herb butter mixture generously all over the beef tenderloin roast.
- Place the roast in a roasting pan and cook in the preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the desired doneness is reached (use a meat thermometer: 120°F for rare, 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
- Let the roast rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
Notes
- You can sear the roast in a hot pan for 2-3 minutes on each side before roasting to create a crust if desired.
- The roast can be paired with a variety of side dishes like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
- For best results, use fresh herbs rather than dried.
