Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 sticks real butter, softened
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: Walnut pieces, as desired

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Mix Sugars and Butter: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add this flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture, mixing until combined.
  • Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Stir in the chocolate chips and walnut pieces, if using.
  • Shape and Bake: Using a small cookie scoop, place dough onto baking sheets. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, underbake slightly. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
