Description

Soft, fluffy, and golden, these homemade dinner rolls are the perfect accompaniment to any meal. Made with simple ingredients, they are easy to prepare and are sure to be a hit at the dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:
    • In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm milk and add the yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  • Make the Dough:
    • Mix in the melted butter, salt, and egg.
    • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Knead the Dough:
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth, about 8 minutes.
  • First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the dough to release the air, then divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
  • Second Rise:
    • Place the dough balls on a greased baking sheet, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve:
    • Let the rolls cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you want to make the rolls extra soft, you can brush them with melted butter after baking.
  • You can also add a little garlic butter or herbs to the dough for added flavor.
