Description

Enjoy the sweet, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth goodness of homemade Krispy Kremes. These soft and golden donuts are coated in powdered sugar, offering a perfect treat for breakfast or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Heat the milk until warm, then add sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and softened butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface, then cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter.
  • Let the donuts rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C), and fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  • Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Coat the warm donuts in powdered sugar to finish.

Notes

  • You can also dip the donuts in a glaze made with powdered sugar and milk for an extra sweet touch.
  • For a variation, try adding a dash of vanilla extract to the dough or a sprinkle of cinnamon to the powdered sugar for added flavor.
  • Ensure the oil temperature is consistent to avoid undercooked or overly greasy donuts.
