- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together milk, eggs, honey, and melted butter.
- Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Serve warm with butter and extra honey if desired.
Notes
- For extra sweetness, you can drizzle more honey over the cornbread once it’s baked.
- To make it a bit richer, try substituting some of the milk with buttermilk.
- Leftovers can be wrapped and stored for a few days, or frozen for longer storage.
