Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Melt the Butter:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Mix Sugar and Eggs:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and eggs. Whisk together until well blended and smooth.
- Add Dry Ingredients:
- Add the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt to the egg mixture. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Incorporate Butter and Vanilla:
- Pour in the melted butter and add the vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Fold in Pecans:
- If using, gently fold in the chopped pecans to the batter.
- Pour into Pie Dish:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pie dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly gooey. The pie will firm up as it cools.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
