Description

This Irresistible French Onion Soup Burger takes the flavors of classic French onion soup and turns them into a mouthwatering burger. With caramelized onions, a rich beef broth, and melty Swiss cheese, this burger is packed with savory goodness that will have everyone coming back for more. It’s the ultimate comfort food on a bun!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 burger patties.
  • Cook the patties in a hot skillet or on a grill, cooking them to your desired level of doneness.
  • While the patties are cooking, heat the beef broth in a small pot and add the caramelized onions. Let the broth simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavors.
  • Once the patties are cooked, place each patty on the bottom half of a hamburger bun.
  • Top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Ladle the onion broth mixture over the cheese, allowing it to soak in and melt the cheese.
  • Place the top half of the buns on top and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can also toast the hamburger buns for a little extra crunch before assembling the burgers.
  • If you like your burgers extra cheesy, feel free to add more slices of Swiss cheese!
  • Serve with crispy fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
