-
For the Filling:
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (12 oz) jar caramel sauce
-
For the Topping:
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip or whipped topping
- ¼ cup chocolate chips, melted (optional for drizzle)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box and prepare the cake batter as directed.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake according to the package instructions.
- Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a similar tool to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
- In a bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce. Pour the mixture over the warm cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
- Allow the cake to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Once the cake is chilled, spread the Cool Whip or whipped topping evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle the shredded coconut and chopped pecans over the whipped topping.
- If desired, drizzle melted chocolate chips over the top for an extra touch of indulgence.
- Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy!
Notes
- For an extra layer of flavor, you can also add a layer of chocolate ganache before topping with Cool Whip.
- Make sure the cake has cooled completely before refrigerating to avoid the topping melting.
