Ingredients
-
1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
-
1 (12-pack) Hawaiian sweet rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian)
-
1/3 cup butter, melted
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
-
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (optional, reduce if desired)
-
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
-
1 large egg, beaten
-
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
-
Without separating the rolls, cut the entire 12-pack of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom slab. Place the bottom half in the prepared pan.
-
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, and beaten egg until smooth and creamy.
-
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls. Place the top half of the rolls back on.
-
In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
-
Brush the tops of the rolls generously with the cinnamon-sugar butter mixture.
-
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the filling is set.
- Remove from oven, brush with the reserved 1 tablespoon melted butter, and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
-
Add a drizzle of vanilla or cream cheese glaze on top for extra sweetness.
-
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for a smooth filling.
-
You can assemble this the night before and bake fresh in the morning.
- For more texture, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top before baking.
