Description

This hearty Lasagna Bolognese features layers of savory meat sauce, creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Perfect for family dinners or gatherings, it’s a classic Italian comfort food that never disappoints.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of the meat sauce. Top with a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of sauce and cheese.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For an extra boost of flavor, sprinkle a bit of fresh basil or parsley on top of the lasagna before serving.
  • You can make the Bolognese sauce ahead of time to save time during assembly.
