Ingredients
-
2 frozen breaded chicken patties
-
2 tablespoons garlic butter (or to taste)
-
4 slices Italian bread
-
1 cup marinara sauce
-
½ teaspoon dried basil (or to taste)
-
1 pinch garlic salt (or to taste)
-
6 thin slices provolone cheese
-
2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
-
Cook the frozen breaded chicken patties according to the package instructions (typically baked in the oven or air-fried).
-
While the chicken is cooking, spread garlic butter on one side of each slice of Italian bread.
-
In a small pan over medium heat, toast the garlic buttered side of each slice of bread until golden and crispy.
-
Once the chicken patties are cooked, heat the marinara sauce in a separate pan. Stir in the dried basil and garlic salt.
-
To assemble, layer the cooked chicken patties on one slice of the toasted bread.
-
Add a few spoonfuls of marinara sauce over the chicken, then top with provolone cheese and a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan.
-
Place the other slice of bread on top, garlic buttered side facing out, and press down gently.
-
Grill the sandwich in a pan over medium heat, flipping halfway, until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
-
Serve hot with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
-
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
-
You can use any bread of your choice, but Italian bread gives it a nice crispy texture and flavor.
