 This Lemon Cream Cheese Bread is a deliciously sweet and tangy treat, perfect for breakfast or dessert. The soft and moist bread is enhanced with a creamy lemon-infused cream cheese filling, making every bite rich and flavorful with the refreshing taste of lemon.

  • For the bread:

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/4 cup sour cream
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the cream cheese filling:

    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in sour cream, milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. In another bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, egg, and lemon juice until smooth.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan.
  8. Top with the remaining batter, spreading evenly.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice over the bread for extra sweetness.
  • Be sure to let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent it from becoming too moist.
