For the bread:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in sour cream, milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- In another bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, egg, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan.
- Top with the remaining batter, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon juice over the bread for extra sweetness.
- Be sure to let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent it from becoming too moist.
