This luxurious grilled cheese sandwich elevates the classic comfort food by combining creamy mashed avocado, sharp cheddar cheese, and juicy tomato slices. A hint of Dijon mustard adds a tangy kick, making this sandwich a gourmet delight perfect for lunch or a quick snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. If using Dijon mustard, spread it on the unbuttered side of one slice.
  • Mash the avocado and spread it evenly over the non-buttered side of one slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Layer shredded cheddar cheese on top of the avocado. Add tomato slices.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  • Place the sandwich in the preheated skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute whole wheat or sourdough bread for a healthier or tangier option.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes on the avocado.
