Description

These Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delightful twist on the classic chocolate chip cookie. With the sweetness of maraschino cherries and the richness of dark chocolate, these cookies are a perfect combination of chewy, sweet, and slightly tangy. Instructions

  • Preheat the oven:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

  • Cream the wet ingredients:
    In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract and continue to beat until combined.

  • Mix the dry ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt, baking soda, and flour. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  • Add the cherries and chocolate:
    Gently fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chopped dark or semisweet chocolate.

  • Form the cookie dough:
    Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  • Bake the cookies:
    Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set. Keep an eye on them to avoid overbaking.

  • Sprinkle with sea salt:
    Once the cookies are out of the oven, sprinkle a small pinch of flakey sea salt on top of each warm cookie. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
