Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups white American cheese, shredded or cubed
- 1/2 cup milk (more as needed)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup canned green chilies, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for a bit of heat)
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Melt the Cheese:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the milk and slowly stir in the white American cheese. Stir constantly until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
- Add the Flavors:
- Mix in the chopped green chilies, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and chili powder (if using). Continue to stir until all ingredients are well combined and the dip is smooth.
- Adjust the Consistency:
- If the dip is too thick, gradually add more milk until you reach your desired consistency.
- Serve:
- Transfer the cheese dip to a serving bowl, garnish with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve warm with tortilla chips, nachos, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes!
Notes
This cheese dip can be kept warm in a slow cooker on the low setting, making it perfect for parties or game day. For extra flavor, try adding a splash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of smoked paprika.
