Description

This Million Dollar Lasagna is a rich and decadent take on the classic Italian dish. Layers of perfectly cooked lasagna noodles, seasoned meat, creamy cheeses, and savory sauces come together to create a mouthwatering, cheesy masterpiece. With a blend of Italian sausage or ground beef, cottage cheese, cream cheese, and mozzarella, this lasagna will become your new favorite comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles

  • 1 ¼ lbs Italian sausage or ground beef

  • 1 (24-oz) jar spaghetti sauce

  • 2 (8-oz) cans tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 (24-oz) container cottage cheese

  • 1 (8-oz) block of cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup sour cream

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 tbsp dried parsley

  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese slices

  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook the Lasagna Noodles:
Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  • Prepare the Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage or ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning to the meat. Stir to combine, then simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the flavors meld together.

  • Make the Cheese Mixture:
In a large bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, beaten egg, and dried parsley until smooth and well combined.

  • Assemble the Lasagna:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Then, add a layer of lasagna noodles.
Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce.
Add another layer of noodles, then repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

  • Top with Mozzarella and Parmesan:
Arrange mozzarella cheese slices on top of the final layer of sauce. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

  • Bake:
Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.

  • Cool and Serve:
Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before cutting to allow it to set. Serve hot and enjoy!
