Description

These Mozzarella Onion Rings are a cheesy twist on a classic appetizer. Crispy on the outside and filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, they’re the perfect snack or side dish for any occasion. The blend of garlic, paprika, and cheese makes these rings irresistible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Peel the onion and cut it into thick slices. Carefully separate the rings.
  • In a bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Stuff each onion ring with the cheese mixture.
  • Dip each stuffed onion ring into the flour, then into the milk, and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion rings until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use any type of cheese, but mozzarella provides the best melt.
  • For an extra crispy coating, double coat the onion rings by dipping them back into the milk and breadcrumbs after the first round.
  • These onion rings can also be baked instead of fried for a lighter version. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes.
