This soft and slightly sweet cornbread is a comforting side dish that’s perfect for any meal. With a golden-brown crust and tender inside, it’s a traditional favorite that pairs well with soups, stews, or barbecues.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in milk, oil, and egg until well combined.
  • Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
