- 4 cups cubed day-old bread
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread and milk. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes to allow the bread to soak.
- Stir in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and raisins (if using).
- Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
- Serve warm, topped with vanilla sauce (optional).
Notes
