- 1 loaf French bread
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Cut the French bread into sandwich-sized pieces and slice them open.
- Prepare the Coating: In a bowl, mix together the flour and cornmeal.
- Beat the Eggs: In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Coat the Shrimp: Dip the shrimp into the beaten eggs, then coat them with the flour-cornmeal mixture.
- Fry the Shrimp: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in hot oil for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lemon juice to create the sauce.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Spread the sauce on the inside of the French bread.
- Fill the Sandwich: Layer the fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and pickles inside the bread.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
