- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the bread slices in the dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla extract, orange zest, and salt.
- Pour the mixture over the bread slices, making sure all pieces are coated.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator and let it stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
