Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and stir-fry the bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Return the steak to the skillet. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir to combine and heat through.
  • Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened and coated the steak and vegetables.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with sliced green onions.
  • Serve over cooked rice and enjoy!

Notes

For extra spice, add a dash of red pepper flakes or a splash of Sriracha. This stir fry pairs perfectly with steamed rice or noodles!
