- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Combine Wet and Dry:
- Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Form the Dough:
- Stir until a dough begins to form. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise:
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Dough:
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness for pizza crust.
- Assemble Pizza:
- Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza pan or baking sheet. Add your favorite toppings.
- Bake:
- Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
Notes
- For a thicker crust, leave the dough a bit thicker when rolling it out.
- Feel free to experiment with toppings to create your favorite pizza.
