- 1 package red velvet cake mix
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, yeast, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Add the flour and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Roll up the dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes.
- Once baked, drizzle cream cheese frosting on top and serve warm.
Notes
- If you prefer a homemade cream cheese frosting, you can combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla extract to taste.
- To make these ahead, you can assemble the rolls and refrigerate them overnight, then bake in the morning.
