Description

These decadent Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls are a sweet twist on the classic. With a rich red velvet flavor, soft dough, and a delicious cinnamon-sugar filling, they are topped with creamy cream cheese frosting for a treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package red velvet cake mix
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, yeast, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Add the flour and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • Roll up the dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes.
  • Once baked, drizzle cream cheese frosting on top and serve warm.

Notes

  • If you prefer a homemade cream cheese frosting, you can combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla extract to taste.
  • To make these ahead, you can assemble the rolls and refrigerate them overnight, then bake in the morning.
  • Feel free to add chopped pecans or walnuts into the filling for extra texture.
