Description

What’s your favorite grab-and-go breakfast that’s both delicious and filling? These Savory Sausage Muffins are packed with savory sausage, melted cheese, and a blend of spices, making them the perfect on-the-go breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sausage (Italian, breakfast, or your choice)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Mix the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Add the Cheeses:
    • Stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses into the dry ingredients.
  • Combine the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, Greek yogurt or sour cream, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Mix the Batter:
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the cooked sausage.
  • Fill the Muffin Tin:
    • Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners. Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  • Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Serve:
    • Let the muffins cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
