Description

Tender, juicy chicken thighs simmered in a rich, sweet, and tangy BBQ sauce with a touch of heat. This slow cooker recipe is an effortless way to serve up bold Southern-inspired flavor with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 2 teaspoons Creole mustard

  • ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • ¼ teaspoon hot pepper sauce

  • 9 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 3 pounds)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, honey, Creole mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and hot pepper sauce.

  • Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.

  • Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.

  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure all pieces are coated.

  • Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F).

  • Optional: For a sticky glaze, transfer cooked chicken to a baking sheet and broil for 2–3 minutes.

  • Serve with extra sauce from the slow cooker.

Notes

  • Use your favorite store-bought or homemade BBQ sauce.

  • Add sliced onions or bell peppers to cook with the chicken for added flavor.

  • Creole mustard adds depth—can be substituted with Dijon in a pinch.
