Description

A light and fluffy cake with a rich, buttery flavor, perfect for any occasion. This Southern Hangover Cake is the perfect sweet treat to start the day or to help recover from a night of fun. Simple ingredients come together to create a satisfying dessert or snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter, softened
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 6 egg whites

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  • Add the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold them into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool before serving.

Notes

  • The cake is delicious on its own but can be topped with frosting, whipped cream, or fresh fruit if desired.
