Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 8 oz sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

For the Chips:

  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin fries
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Serving:

  • Ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce

Instructions

  • Cook the Steak:
    • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Rub the steak with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and fresh thyme or rosemary if using.
    • Sear the steak in the hot skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Prepare the Chips:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Toss the potato slices in a large bowl with vegetable oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Spread the potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chips are golden and crispy.
  • Serve:
    • Plate the steak and chips.
    • Serve with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For a quicker version, use frozen fries and cook them according to the package instructions. Adjust seasoning to your taste for a perfect solo meal.
